Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end: Goodbye for now, VIPKID.

Love that song. Love VIPKID. Love teaching online. Really, it is an AMAZING job. VIPKID helped save me during one of the most financially difficult times in my life, but now, after two wonderful years, it is time to say goodbye.

With the arrival of my new son, it is just not feasible at this time to continue. It’s not fair to my students, and it’s not fair to my children. My newborn is breastfeeding and unpredictable with his sleep schedule, and my toddler is a tiny hurricane on his good days. Their father leaves for work early in the morning, so without his support there is no way I can try to teach, even part time. I had a hard enough time teaching alone with just one baby. I don’t have the stomach to let my kids cry while I finish a class, so it is just not a good fit for me right now. Sorry, but not sorry.

I will miss the fun, energetic early mornings and late nights with my sweet Chinese students, but I have to do what is best for me and my family. Hopefully, in a couple of years when they are older and more independent, VIPKID will still have a spot for a teacher like me. Until then, I will continue to blog about my other side hustles and my life with two under two. Momma still has to make extra money, so the best is yet to come.

(Think photography…my next adventure.)

I will end this post the same way I end each VIPKID class.

Oh no, we are out of time! See you next time! Goodbye.
